About Our Program

The Yoga Teacher Training (YTT) program is a incredibly transformative journey, often changing your life in unexpected ways. It’s a beautiful way to deepen your practice, deepen your relationship with yourself, and serve your community in a positive, informed, and healing way.

Our YTT Program is a Yoga Alliance-Certified 200 HR program designed to provide students with mastery of yoga foundations to ensure the highest level teacher. An anatomy-based program, our YTT is a practical and useful teacher training based in Ashtanga vinyasa-style yoga applied in accessible and therapeutic ways. You’ll emerge with the ability to tailor the practice of yoga to each of your students so that yoga fits the body - not the other way around. In addition to exploring the history of yoga, you’ll also learn how yoga can be applied as medicine to heal the nervous system and restore function in joints and muscles. The end result is finding your specific path to help heal and empower yourself and your students.

Why Yoga Alliance?

We have chosen to complete the rigorous certification process through Yoga Alliance, the only governing body of yoga, to ensure that our program meets the standards set by the worldwide yoga community. We want to properly prepare our teachers to teach safely to all populations and have a well-rounded educational experience that goes beyond the asana.

Tracy, E-RYT 500, YACEP, CCYT appreciates yoga for its path to self-discovery. Her practice has taken her into the dark shadows within her body. And, her practice has revealed to her the light of her own sweet soul. Having experienced the healing, growth and transformation that a yoga practice provides, she became interested in and committed to connecting with others by teaching yoga. Her own inner work allows her to offer compassion, strength, patience, grace and love to those she teaches, guides and supports.

Megan Davis RYT/500, LISW

Megan loves to teach! She loves to hold space, especially for women, teens and children. A clinical social worker turned yogi, her mission is to share yoga and mindfulness as resources toward healing from anxiety, grief and trauma (self included!). Megan has extensive training around trauma-informed yoga and facilitates trainings for yoga instructors, counselors and educators on teaching yoga and mindfulness practices through this lens.

Her teaching style is rooted in the elements, moving between earth, water and fire with every flow, breath, release, and connection. Music fuels her classes; don't be surprised if we end up singing, laughing or crying together...those are the cornerstones of true connection anyway, right? In every class, with any age yogi, Megan’s goal is always to create space for students to take ownership over their own experience and find moments to just BE.

Megan’s intention in this crazy beautiful life is to be a conduit of change; she truly believes that each of us has the capacity for resilience and grace, if given the opportunity to uncover it. When not teaching or practicing yoga, you can find her with her kiddos, obsessing over the perfect yoga playlist, warming up her coffee for the 20th time, or chasing the sunshine.

Sandy found yoga when her three children were in middle school. She was looking for a way to become calmer, grounded and less stressed.  Yoga provided that.  It continues to help Sandy deal with the stress of living this modern life.  It is her way of getting back to what matters – love and compassion for all beings.

Sandy has practice at many of the area’s yoga studios.  She has also taken workshops on yoga, meditation and pranayama all over the country.  She loves the diversity of the studios, teachings and instructors.  Influences of many of those teachers can be seen in Sandys’s teaching style.  Sandy believes that slow steady breathing, soft soothing music and holding poses a bit longer will cultivate a calm mind.

Lindsay graduated from Yoga Strong, LLC's RYT 200-hour program in January 2015. In addition to teaching for Akron Yoga and Wellness, Lindsay enjoys teaching friends and family yoga in her apartment. She enjoys taking yoga classes with different teachers, at different studios and in different spaces - the variety supports her growth as a teacher and a student. She encourages her students do the same. One of Lindsay's favorite quotes is Eleanor Roosevelt's "Do one thing every day that scares you" because challenging and surprising herself has helped Lindsay grow into a happier, more confident woman. She hopes her students discover new challenges in her classes and grow their practice as a result of trying something new to benefit the mind, body and soul.
